چکیده

There is a need for cognitively bounded implementations of transactive memory for agents. To do this, we use schema theory and tiered social cognition to implement Mead’s Generalized Other (1925). We then compared our new implementation, Construct-ML, with a prior implementation of the same simulation, ConstructO. We were not able to replicate all of the patterns suggested by Construct-O’s results. However, the pattern validity of Construct-ML improves as agents have more cognitive resources, which is suggestive and interesting.

Social Capital and Transactive Memory Systems in Work Groups: a Multilevel Approach

A multilevel, multi-theoretical model of transactive memory was developed by integrating the emergence model with social capital theories. Empirical tests showed that individual social capital significantly impacted the development of the micro-level component of transactive memories, but collective social capital did not significantly influence the development of macrolevel transactive memorie...

Transactive Memory, Self-Construal and Subjective Well- Being in a Group of Indian Couples

People in close relationships foster the development of shared memory schemas of each other. Their constellation of thoughts, feelings and actions shape their cognition, expression and experience of emotions. This shared mental model between the couples may lead to subjective well-being. The present study tries to explore the pattern of transactive memory system and self-construal in a group of...

Developing Individuals' Transactive Memories of Their Ego-Centric Networks to Mitigate Risks of Knowledge Sharing: The Case of Professionals Protecting CyberSecurity

A memory of who knows what, so called transactive memory, can be an important cognitive structure in facilitating knowledge sharing in situations where successful collaboration depends on simultaneously maximizing sharing while mitigating its risks. We examine the development of transactive memory in crossorganizational networks—or ego-centric networks—that individuals build and maintain in the...

Transactive Memory and Trust Networks in Computer-Supported Teams

The development of transactive memory facilitated by trust relationships and social exchanges is of emerging importance in distributed environments characterized by a lack of rich social presence. Situated at the nexus of research on computer-supported teams, this study examined the effects of trust networks and social presence on transactive memory. The results indicated that dense trust netwo...

A conceptual and empirical framework for the social distribution of cognition: The case of memory

In this paper, we aim to show that the framework of embedded, distributed, or extended cognition offers new perspectives on social cognition by applying it to one specific domain: the psychology of memory. In making our case, first we specify some key social dimensions of cognitive distribution and some basic distinctions between memory cases, and then describe stronger and weaker versions of d...
